About me
I am Laura Reiman, a visual artist, chocolate lover and chocolate judge from Amsterdam,The Netherlands.
My work as a visual artist and has always naturally combined with my passion for food and chocolate in particular. I have worked on various educational projects linked to the world of cocoa and chocolate with companies in The Netherlands and the UK such as the Cacaomuseum in Amsterdam, Clearchox in the Netherlands and the Chocolatemuseum in London.
I am also a judge at the Academy of Chocolate Awards, and in recent years I have developed a method of tasting chocolate through artistic expression, using shapes and colours to express the complex flavours of fine flavour chocolate.
I love sharing my knowledge of cacao and chocolate, and hopefully convert more and more people to choose better quality chocolates that are produced in an ethical and sustainable way and taste so much better than mass produced chocolate products.

By using colours in my chocolate tastings I realised that even though it doesn't come naturally to everybody, focussing on colours and painting the flavours actually helps bring us in a calmer state, so we can focus more on what we are tasting and get a much richer experience out of it."
Chocolate Flavour Paintings
Finding and flavour notes in chocolate is fun, but it can sometimes be hard to name the all flavours that appear while the chocolate melts in our mouths. Thinking of colours and linking them to flavour can make it easier and even more interesting and fun to savour chocolate; in our workshops we teach you how to paint the flavours you'll find in the chocolate. Anyone can do this with a little help; the Taste with Colour map designed by Hazel Lee is a great tool we use to help associate flavours and colours.
